That's because there's a huge mix of natural and man made descents, north shore trails and a huge lift network to get you back to the top of the hill. It's quite easy to get a good few thousand vertical metres of descending in in a day. The cross country riding is a different class. You can make the climbs as technical as they come and the rewards are worth it. Some of the best descents aren't accessible by lift, you've got to climb to them. There's hundreds of miles of challenging technical single track and when you're sitting trail side coughing up a lung you'll have time to take in the stunning scenery and relax in real mountain style.
